About

Hi!  My name is Michelle Vigen — welcome to my blog, Common Spark*!

This website will document 4 years of a professional and personal development adventure.

In the summer of 2011, I was honored by being named a Bush Fellow of the Bush Foundation’s Leadership Fellowship program.  Through this fellowship, I will endeavor to dig deeper into issues that are vital to MN communities and that are deeply important to me: energy and community.

Through local workshops, consulting, trainings, interviews with other organizations (locally and nationally), and attending workshops and conferences (locally and globally), I hope to grow into a better resource for communities.  I want to explore and offer a tool: Community-based social marketing, as a way to leverage existing local resources to produces broad and lasting change in communities.  To learn more about my focus and responsibilities, see My “Charge”.

I would love to connect with you, whether to hear your own stories about work being done in your community, where you find your inspiration and “sweet spot” for collective action, the research you’re working on, or what your community is interested in working on!
